A friend sent this to me just a few minutes ago. It so goes along with how we all feel, especially after heart surgery. You realize that you need to stop and smell the roses more and appreciate what we have. I wanted to share this with everyone. Enjoy!

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down
Don't dance so fast.

Time is short, the music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done do you lie in you bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child, we'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time to call and say, "Hi."
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getter there.
It is like an unopened gift. . .
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Nice thought, Glenda.
I made up my mind that I would enjoy the time remaining on summer vacation, and I would not squander any of it worrying about the upcoming school year. There will be time enough for that pretty soon.
All my kids are home and in town for the summer, so I'm going to "slow down" and live each and every precious moment while I can.
Thanks for the reinforcement.

Hi Glenda,

My nephew sent me that right after I had OHS and was home recuperating! I remembered I cried and cried! Not like I wasn't real emotional at that time or anything! :)

I reflected on those words and have made it a point, to stop and smell the roses. We all need to take time and not race around so fast. Thanks for posting it!

That is wonderful. Thank you for sharing that. I hadn't heard it before and it certainly puts it all in focus. It's lovely. I just asked Ross if he could add it to his "human" thread so we can gather some of these in one place.

Mary, where do you find those wonderful avatars?? I love the flying dog ears!! Cracked me up!

Again, thanks, Glenda. That was a great reminder.

Marguerite,
I belong to a MSN site called Vicki's Clip Art and Animation. It's free, but you have to register with them. Just do a search and it should pull up.

I have to use a web address that Ross gave me to shrink the animations down, but it is real easy to do. Here's the name of it: www.gifworks.com/

I changed my avatar after admiring Ross's. You know the saying about, "Old dog, new trick"?

Hi Glenda

Hi Glenda

Sometimes, I wonder if all this racing around..We bring it on ourselves?..The younger Mother's thinking they have to have their children involved in all kinds of activies, dancing, ballet, little league ball, basketball, ect. all after school. ..Grant you, I did the same thing...but I think back to all the driving here and there..Some, they enjoyed (summer swim team) and some they hated. Basketball practice, home tired, homework, ect.....and then they mostly only played a little during the game...Same with little league, hot practice and games.. Up until the age they started all these things, we always sat down and ate dinner together..I was lucky to get dinner on the table, for running to one school for pickup and then another school for pickup...  ...same thing with Grandson until last Spring. He was unable to play ball, due to his appendix surgery. He really enjoyed just coming home and playing around the house. This year, NO sports..7th grade and not big enough for football. Some of his classmates out weigh him double.  We will wait and see on basketball...He sounded so happy yesterday when I asked him about his classes in school. Forego band for a new class .building things, like little motor cars, ect. Forget the name of class................Also, I feel for you members who live in large cities with the traffic..It's so nice up here where I live. Little traffic to deal with....Most of you members still have your parents to have to help out. John and I spent 2 years with his parents taking them to their doctor appointments, ect. before they passed.... 2 hour round trip..so most of the day was gone..but, we were glad to do it for them... :) When people get where their plates are full. you need to think, what is really important and what not. Will it matter that your house is not clean...it will still be standing long after you are gone. :p :p When hubby retired 13 years ago and children left the nest, we down sized..BIG time..Got rid of the boats, the Condo in the Mountains,(for skiing).....The farm..and now, I only have 1 bed to make. :D :D :D so now, I can go outside and smell the honeysuckles..butterflies, and watch the deer eat my flowers. :D :D Bonnie
