Woah there, go easy on the supplements! Just did 4 days of 1 can per day slim fast INR plummeted! Not worth it for me, I will just be more disciplined in my diet

If you like the stuff and want to continue, simply increase the dose of Warfarin to get back in range and continue. Don't diet the dose, dose the diet!

Depending on what product, most have Vitamin K 25% per serving RDA which isn't all that much.

I agree with Ross about dosing the diet, not dieting the dose, but I stay away from the diet shakes and the instant breakfasts. There's no way that I will be sufficiently consistent with those and not get bored silly.

Just noticed something. One A Day Women's supplement changed their formula to include Vit K! Have been taking this sucessfully for 7 years. I don't want my INR to drop. Not for a second or a supplement! Any ideas. I think there may be another one out there without K. Beware of Ensure products also.

Gina, thanks for the heads-up on the One a Day Womens - also what I use. %*#&. Why can't they leave well-enough alone??? I'm with you - I don't want to mess with my inr for a vitamin tablet. I went through a 2 month yo-yo for seemingly no reason; ended up with dosage where I started. Sigh. I'm really stable right now. Guess I'll finish up this bottle; if you find another brand without K please post on here.

If you take a multi-vitamin consistently (meaning every day), I don't see how that would cause a long-term problem with INR. Just increase your warfarin dosage to compensate.

I do, and absent another brand sans Vit K, I will. As I said, however, I've just finished with a bout of yo-yo-ing, and prefer not to have to adjust my warfarin again.

I'll echo Gina's comment -- watch out for any and all of the liquid dietary supplements. When my mom, who had CHF and AFIB, and took coumadin, was in the hospital with terminal cancer the doc's wanted to give her liquid dietary supplements. They conveniently forgot her coumadin, until I had to bring them back to reality. Then they asked if I was a doctor or something, as my questions made them really do their jobs. . .

Those liquid meals are high in Vitamin K, so unless you intend to make them a regular part of your diet and dose to the diet, be prepared for an INR roller coaster.

Advertising (and health-food store clerk's advice) does not apply to people taking warfarin. It is hard enough to get good advice from your doctor so why trust lesser-trained people and advertising?
