Does anybody know why my son would be slightly blue around the nose?. When i told the lasion nurse this, she said that his tounge would be blue if there was a problem with his heart defect, the more i look at him he looks very pale with a slight blue tint around his nose, my friend as also noticed this so i'm not imagining it any ideas thanks Paula

Paula, this is possibly just due to a change in weather as AVSD is not generally a cyanotic condition (a blue one) and even at Chloes very worst when she was in severe heart failure, she wasnt really blue.
She still now gets a tinge of blue where you describe if shes very cold but i would have thought that could apply to any child if cold too.
I would have thought its ok but I'm no doctor so if you're still worried, go with mummy instinct, which is generally right and ring back the CLN and ask for an earlier appointment for Curtis.
Hope you get some answers soon

just an idea

I'm sure I'd be concerned too. My one child is very pale. Two others quite olive complexions. When those two get very tired or ill-ish they can turn a little blue around the edges. I would always pump some high iron foods into them (just a gut reaction) and make sure they got extra sleep. Oftentimes allergies will make circles appear under the eyes, and maybe just an overall blue at the edges thing. Fall is notorious for molds here in Oregon and I know our weather is very similar to yours. Maybe a new sensitivity? anything new inhabiting his classroom at school? Pet rabbit or anythign?

Don't hesitate to call someone, though. Use your instincts.

Let us know.

Thanks, Curtis seems fine he as plenty of energy. All thow it is a struggle getting him to sleep before midnight:eek:.I will try to get more iron in him. He only has nineteen days to go before his check up, so i will grin and bear it till then. He dosn't take any medication for his heart condition. Thanks for the help:)
