As stated, I'm noticing very intermittently maybe once every week and a half for two, that when I take a deep breath I get these somewhat dull pains in the left side of my chest what I would consider my heart area.

I am 8 years post AVR op. And to the best of my knowledge upon last check, albeit it's been over a year, my heart and valve were doing fine.

I've read there can be a great range of causes for something like this, from gas, to lung lining, to the heart, and many more.

Not looking for a diagnosis obv, but not in a position financially and lacking medical insurance to go to the doctor.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, could you describe the circumstances around your experience, whether you had it checked, if so what was diagnosed, or if just went away. Any and all details are welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance!

In no way is my experience any substitute for your doctor's opinion, but.......I am also 8 yrs post AVR and on occasion I have a mild pain/cramp in the left chest area; my doc is not concerned
with it and I go for regular echoes and check ups. No other symptoms with mine, and I really haven't noticed it coming back lately.
Hopefully you don't smoke, and are not overweight or overstressed.
:)

I appreciate your response Bina. I have no other symptoms at all either. I do hv to say again, it's been just over a year since last echo, not that outdated. I do not smoke, never have, but I am slightly overweight.... Could lose about 20 pounds, and also am stressed. Out of work and job hunting as well as finances. Again, it's intermittent. Sometimes once a week, once a month. Been noticing the last 3 months or so, and again very dull. As I was typing earlier (2 hours ago) I was experiencing it. As in typing now I'm not, and as per the past wouldn't expect to again today, or in the next few days, if not weeks.

Just so aggravating when we hv these conditions. Every little feeling or sensation can be over analyzed. At the same time, we need to be conscious of these feelings or sensations. It's like a catch 22. Doesn't help I hv an anxiety issue in addition. That's a whole other correlating problem for another post.

Still open to hearing anyone's experiences with this. Thank you again.

I had my first MVR at 2 years old. I have had these periodic chest pains when breathing in for as long as I can remember. I still have them periodically. I have never had any major heart issues because of them. I always figured everyone had them, and found out a few years ago that that wasn't the case. I was having them, and said to someone "you know when you have those pains right here when you breath in..." After their puzzled look, I realized not everyone had them.
My left ventricle in enlarged from when I was in heart failure. Our hearts are not perfect anymore, so I always figure it's just something to do with the fact that my heart has had a few minor issues.

I am not saying that your pains are harmless. Just wanted to tell you my experience and let you know that I experience these with no problems. Of course, if you feel that something is seriously wrong, you should call your Cardiologist.
