We who have had a hard time sleeping since surgery have sympathized with each other on here from time to time.

I am finding that if I take one 15 MG Temazepam (Restoril) prescribed by a former doctor (and so far renewed upon request by my new GP in our new location) that I sleep soundly all night long and have no apparent side-effects. If I don't take the pill, I don't sleep. It's as simple as that.

I don't like the idea of dependence, but I am beginning to wonder if I have no adverse reaction to the medicine if I should just take it routinely and forget about somehow trying to wean myself off of it. Sure feel better after a night's sleep than after a night of tossing and turning, and turning and tossing.

Anybody have experiences along this line to share, or thoughts or opinions? Thanks.

(I am writing at this hour -- 1:54 a.m. here -- because I went to bed with the idea of skipping the sleeping pill tonight. Probably a silly notion, since we're just back from out-of-state trip to funeral of my brother-in-law. So I am about to take the pill now -- but as you can see, I am conflicted about it. I hate taking so many meds.)

Hello fellow insomniac.
I have a sister who has chronic neck pain. She and her doctor agonized over whether she should take narcotics which was the only thing that gave her relief. They finally decided her getting addicted to narcotics was better than the "life" she was leading dealing with the pain. She is now pain free, has not built up a tolerance for the meds thus not needing more and more, and has no ill side effects from the meds.
Take your pills. Sleep is way too precious to lose if there is an alternative.
Maybe I will try Restoril.;) :D ;)
