I don't know if I posted this yet, but I had a good check-up with my surgeon on Friday. My hemaglobin (sp) and blood oxygen levels are good, my ekg is good and my chest x-ray was clear.

Anyway, at thirteen days post-op I seem to be really sleepy all the time. I'm taking the least amount of pain meds I've taken since surgery (1/2 vicodin every 4 - 6 hours and 400mg ibuprofen every 4 hours) and I'm getting the longest stretches of sleep I've had since surgery (up to six hours.) But I'm still very sleepy a lot. Even exercise does not really wake me up.

I have a theory that I was really sleep-deprived before and my body is now ready to catch up. Anyone else have this experience with sleepiness?

I was told that your body really doesn't do the "catch -up" on sleep thing. But in any case maybe its the ibuprofen thats making you sleepy. Maybe your taking it too often?

You had major surgery. Your body suffered trauma. Give it the sleep it needs. You are aware you are recovering from a very serious surgery.
