Do any of you out there, with AI, also have Sleep Apnea?

Can you describe your symptoms before you had AVR (or if you are still this side of surgery?)

Did your doc prescribe O2 added to your CPAP?

If so, did you (have you) notice any changes in your sleep quality?

Thks

Hi DB, don't know if I can be of much help, but I also have OSA...but had aortic stenosis. Did not go on CPAP until about a year ago, 4 years after AVR. But sleep problems for me got much worse after AVR....but that includes RLS/PLMD also, probably aggravated by the benadryl I was taking for help with sleeping (!)

I saw your other thread and it sounds as though your PH might be playing a role, but also sounds like you are following it up as best you can. If 02 helps you breathe more easily, then hopefully your doc will Rx it for you.

And congrats on your weight loss. That is no easy accomplishment!

DB,

I had an AVR July 6th, and also suffrer from sleep apnea...I noticed the apneas getting much worse leading up to the surgery, but no one mentioned adding O2...Immediately after surgery was kinda rough, but my wife says I didn't seem to stop breathing as often as in the past...You might find it can be quite a nuisance during recovery when you try to catch cat naps...I've lost some weight, and am crossing my fingers the apnea might clear itself up in time...
