Hi,

I recently was copied in a letter from my consultant to my GP and in this letter the consultant had written that my ECG (EKG) shows sinus rhythm and mentioned something about left ventricular hypertrophy.

Can anyone explain to me what the above means, please.

I have an appointment with my GP in about a weeks time and will ask him then but as I am a very impatient person I need to know now :)

Thanks

Raj

Yes. Sinus rhythm is the regular or normal rhythm of the heart. This is good. Left ventricle hypertrophy is an enlargement of the left ventricle or a thickening of the chamber walls. This maybe due to coronary artery disease, high blood pressue, heart failure or valve disease. May or may not be serious at this time. Do you have a valve problem?
Let us know what the GP says.
