last night before bed i intended to take my regular 8 gm dose of warfarin

i swallowed the 3 brown 1 gm pills while walking around the house and then picked up the bottle of pink 5 gm pills. somehow i got distracted and then could not remember if i had taken one of them; oh dear!

so i decided not to risk a double up; hopefully i have some margin for error as i usually test at 3.6 to 4 inr.

in future i will assemble the entire dose on a plate before taking it.

do you guys think my inr will drop much?

You'll be fine, just continue on with your regular dose.

You can also get one of those weekly pill organizers too.

I think you are doing the right thing. If you did take the 5mg, your INR will not change, but if you didn't, your INR will probably decrease a little. Either way, it shouldn't cause any problem. Check it again in 3-5 days.

Westie,

If it was not for your post, I would have forgotten to take my warfarin!

I am a bit confused with the dose colorings  you take 5 pink ones and one brown (tan), or 3 brown? I hope you are not confused...the pinks are the 1 mg, and the tan (brown) are the 3 mg.

Keep us posted:)

my pink warfarin is the 1mg What brown pill of warfarin? my pink warfarin is the 1mg. So, whichnot sure of the dosage of the 'brown' pill, but sure the 'pink' is the 1mg. Which 3 pills did you swallow, if you can remember now:p

Eva...In Aus. and NZ we have Marevan (Warfarin) the pink ones are 5mg, tan 1mg and blue 3mg...

You will be back to normal/in range by next test so I wouldnt worry too much about it...most of us have either forgotten or doubled up one time or another...I managed to mess up twice in a short period of time and thats with a pill organiser...

In my opinion trying to adjust up and down for a once-off oops is like a dog chasing his tail...useless.

get a routine and stick to it...always take them exactly the same way...after my double mess-up I got into the habit of double checking the handfull of pills I am about to swallow and as far as I know I havent messed up since.

I keep my meds in the bathroom, and each morning and each night I assemble the whole lot, check them, and then take them all. That way, the only problems I have is "did I take them?" . . . I have other meds, too, and the little buckets in those pill organizers are not big enough for everything - my calcium pill itself fills the entire thing on its own, almost!

inr 2.8

inr 2.8

.
i have just "coagucheked" myself and got a result of 2.8 inr. so i guess i did not take the 5 gm pink pill 4 days ago. i have been taking my regular 8 gms daily since then.

it seems to have had a big effect on my inr! but then again, i have had some big plates of beans and soy sauce laden food since then.

logically speaking, if i retest say in 3 days time i will be well beyond my missing pink pill incident? correct?

If you want to get back up to 3.5 then you may need a one day increase to bump you back up. (one day at 10mg)
