Hello everyone, I havn't posted in a while because I have been feeling really crappy lately. I had horrible chest pain and felt really weak to the point of passing out. I ran out of my ativan which was keeping me from feeling this way. Got one of my doctors to refill it for me and now I feel like a brand new person.
I asked my doctor why the ativan seems to help me feel so much better. And he just said what ever is going on with my heart is probably causing be to have anxiety attacks. Getting ready for my Cath which is 7am Thursday, I know its not bad but I'm getting scared anyway. Glad to see a lot of you guys are doing so great and getting through surgery with flying colors. I found out the Hospital I will be having surgery at, the Surgeon who I think will be doing the surgery, not sure who yet, has not done a lot of mitral valve replacements but has been there doing other cardiovascular surgeries for 25yrs and is Professor of Cardiovascular surgery and Chief Surgeon. Well, I will just have to leave it in God's hands.

Blake you will go through the cath no problem. I was also scared about that but it was really a none event. Dont stress over it. I still have along way to go myself I got surgery next Thursday.
Good Luck

Blake>>Get yourself a portable CD player, some batteries for it, and a few of your favorite CD's (no heavy metal or other "aggressive" rock though)

You should be able to listen to them during the cath either through the CD player or they may have a sound system in the cath lab and be willing to play the CD's for you.

If your nerves are bugging you, it might be very helpful to have something to keep your mind off what's going on.

My experience though, the cath was pretty easy. A little "discomfort" in the beginning when they set up and having the cath run through your heart feels a bit strange, but they'll walk you through it and you'll be just fine. =)

The 8 hours of bed rest was a little tough afterwards. You're restricted to laying flat on your back the rest of the day and that takes a little will power to get through, but the nurses should be available to help you with whatever you need and you'll have a TV set and maybe your CD's if you can bring them and they'll help you eat when meal time comes around.

Overall, the cath experience isn't that bad, I can think of (and have experienced) much worse.

Thanks everyone !

Thanks everyone !

Thank You, for trying to calm my nerves, maybe the sedation medicine will do it. I know the Lord is watching over me.

Will be praying

Will be praying

Lee, I will be praying for you and everyone on this board. I'm sure we will be fine. My surgery has not been set yet but will be after cath, so I will probably be right behind you.

Blake,
You will do fine with your Cath. I will be in prayer for you tomorrow morning. Let us know how you feel afterwards.

Remember, God has not given us a spirit of fear. Be Encouraged
