Hello all. Some great sunset shots of a large plume of presumed steam and ash coming off Mt. St. Helen's. Great timing! Rush hour traffic jams a certainty as everyone rubbernecks to see from the bridges and freeway! Hope you'll get some news. Not like 25 years ago, but much more than she's been giving us so far. No report from geologists yet. Started at 5:30 pm pacific.

Enjoy!

definitely an eruption

definitely an eruption

They are calling it an eruption, not a dome building activity. Plume rose to 30,000 feet and they are issuing an ashfall advisory for 2 counties in east and cascade region of WA. Tomorrow the wind will be changing toward Portland and it may rain abit. Could get interesting!! :D

wonderful photos

For anyone interested (I'm obviously obsessed with mountains! why else would I live where I can see 3 of them on a clear day??) the Oregonian has some great submitted photos. Digital cameras are making these events so easy to share. Here's a link. You may have to sign in with your zip and birth year, sorry....wish those weren't requested......

Not much else. Yesterday's eruption pulse lasted about 10 minutes and was at 36,000 feet in about 5 minutes. Fun stuff if the wind is blowing in the right direction!!
