hey guys lot's of you guys mention that along with avr, you've had arotic anerisms repairs. What kind of repair? my surgeon was going to replace aportion if i indeed had an anerism (spelling) so what I am asking is repair the same as replacing a portion of the a.a.? Thus I just got a cat scan to make sure before. thx. steve

Hi Steve...
if you are asking if an AA repair is the same as the replacement dacron job we often mention...
I would say yes...
there isnt much use repairing (in the traditional sense of repairing stitches etc) ..In order to repair an aneurysmal aorta they most often replace it with a durable Dacron graft...

I guess its just the different words they have used to describe the same procedure...

about the only time the forum can be slow is on the weekend...

I bet if you "googled" both terms you would probably get a similar answer too...:D ...

good luck Steve...

when is your OP ? are you booked in yet and on our calendar?

thanks aussie gal

thanks aussie gal

Thanks for clearing that up that is what i was trying to figure out. He did show me probablly what you are talking about it looked like a toube with the valve already attached. Didn't pay alot of attention. Was in a little shock as Cardiologist had us set up for just a valve replacement the Dr. Yokoyama brought this up on our consoul. He also brought up that he felt comfortable with telling us that the new bovine valves would last upward of 20 years. He does alot of valves bout 200 a year he says. So now we started and still are rethinking what type of valve to go with. With the recent news about the catheter work and arotic valves. I am hearing more and more that most likely withing 15 or maybe even 10 years this will be commom. If I feel that's likely I will probablly switch to the bovine as I was pretty sure I would have to go mech. as I just turned 50. Anyway I am going to consult with one more surgeon that has come highly recommended and looks very impressive. Dr. Vaughn Starnes at USC. Seems very cutting edge. And looking to see if his opinion of future advancements are what I have heard. Then I will decide which surgeon and schedule, as much as I don't want to will schedule it soon after I decide on doctor. Thanks again. Steve in so. Ca.
