Ha! Made you look.

We're all packed and leaving in the morning for a 5 day trip to Yosemite National Park. "We" is 60 5th grade kids, three teachers and 20 parent chaperones, including my wife and I. The 5th graders do this every year in our school district, spending five days in field classes with naturalist/teachers from the Yosemite Institute Yosemite Institute-click here

We will all stay in tent cabins and go hiking daily in beautiful Yosemite Valley and the surrounding area. Each adult has to supervise a tent cabin of 4 kids (but we don't have to sleep in the cabin with them :D ) and take turns hiking with groups of ten or eleven kids.

The weather forecast looks good (sunny, lows in the low 40s, highs in the low 70s) and we're going to have a great time.

I'll miss *talking* with you all, but will try to catch up on the posts when I get back. With the title of this thread, I bet there will be a couple hundred posts here by the time I return. ;) Best wishes to those recuperating from this week's surgeries and those going in next week.

Hey Bill,
I hope you all have a safe and wonderful time. Sounds like fun. Glad to have talked to you today and in the chat room. Talk to you when you get back.
Take Care

Entrapment! I want a new trial!

Have a safe and wonderful time. With that many kids, I'd flip out and commit suicide, so hopefully your better at it then me. ;)

60 5th graders..!!!!  Are you insane man..??!!!!!

Well... I hope you have a great time, nonetheless.

And yes - I have to agree with Ross - ENTRAPMENT!!!!! (..actually, I thought you might have been having a bit of a competition to see who's page ended up getting the most responses..).

Have fun - "see" you when you get back.

Cheers
Anna : )

:) :) :) Bill have fun with all your little angels! I'm sure it will be quite a experience. In my younger, healthier days I used to be a mission youth leader for this age group. I loved each and every one of them. There are memories made on these kinds of trips that you'll never forget. Have a fun and safe trip.

Memories are right! I'm still having nervous tics and twitches from my Cub Scout Leader days.

You have recovered rapdily from surgery -- congrats on that. But.. going to camp with 5th graders -- you are nuts!
I never went to camp with 5-6th graders, but I understand that almost all the kids are well behaved at camp. Enjoy that time with your daughter and her classmates.

Hope it is cooler in Yosemite than it is in southern CA. It was HOT in southern CA today.

Ah, field trips and chaperoning, I remember those days..
I used to get my request for girls only as I had a girl and figured that girls were so much easier , and stayed with their chaperone.
It worked until 5th and 6th grades and the man teachers wouldn't just give me girls, Aghhh. Boys are much more challenging, to say the least.
Be sure to take pain reliever before any bus rides or field trips and you will be okay!!
Yosemite is just beautiful, and the weather should be perfect, not too hot.
Here in Fremont was 92 today.
