I have been experiencing very frequent urination since two months. I read in Adam Pick's website that "frequent urination" is one of the symptoms of severe stenosis which my BAV has reached. I am trying to find a reference for this frequent urination as a symptom of severe aortic stenosis but I cannot, and I get no reply from Adam Pick. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this ?

I have diabetes and have excluded this as a cause of the frequent urination - my blood glucose levels are very well controlled.

I saw this listed for all types of valvular disease. My guess is the frequent urination is due to congestive heart failure. I also saw at least one place that mentioned stress and its effects on the body as a possible factor in the frequent urination.

I haven't got congestive heart failure though, at least at my echo two weeks ago the cardiologist said my heart was functioning well and no signs of left ventricle thickening etc, ejection fraction is 77%......it's the pressure gradient that has changed only. I was getting this frequent urination before I had that echo, before I found out that the stenosis was now severe, so I am mystified still......

The most common reason for frequent urination is a urinary tract infection. It's a simple test to find it out. See your regular doctor about it.

Hi - I've had the test for urinary infection....and kidney...this has been going on for two months now. It's because on Adam Pick's website he has "frequent urination" as a symptom of severe stenosis that I am wondering about this. I got no reply from Adam Pick and there are no references.

I appreciate that frequent urination happens in congestive heart failure, stress, diabetes and urinary tract infection...but does it really occur in severe stenosis when the person has eliminated those other issues ? And if so, why ?

Can anxiety play a role here? If you beleive that you are going to the bathroom too often, you overthink about it and control yourself, you will surely feel the urgency more often.

Hi, I didn't know that my stenosis had reached the severe stage when this urinary frequency started so anxiety wouldn't be affecting me...not back then anyway. I've just seen my endocinologist and he says that urinary frequency can occur with severe stenosis, something to do with imbalances of everything....but he is checking for diabetes insipidus which is not related to diabetes mellitus which is what I already have....he thinks that's unlikely but wants to eliminate it....he's better than my cardiologist !

In women, frequent urination can also be caused by a ******l or uterine prolapse pushing against the bladder.

Pre-surgery my stenosis was quite far advanced and I can't say that my need to urinate was more often than in years before.
The thing that gets my bladder going these days is stress. (no history of diabetes)
