HI Everyone,

I have a question that hopefully someone will be able to answer. I have had a headache on and off for the past several days. It is in the front and on the right side. I am thinking it is sinus related. There is supposed to be a change in the weather coming and it is usually caused from that. I have taken Tylenol but it isn't even touching it. The pain radiates down the side of my head and goes into my ear. I am very sensitive to light and noise, too. This makes me think migraine. It also seems worse at night. The only peace I seem to get is when I finally get to go to bed. I then smear Vicks vapor rub all over my face where it hurts. I know this may sound gross to some but I swear by the Vicks. It is the only think that seems to help. Unfortunatly I can't do this during the day. Anyone have any daytime headache remedies? I am will to try JUST about anything.

Thanks in advance
Michelle

Michelle,

A severe headache for more than a day warrants a doctor visit. It could be almost anything from a migraine to sinus to an infection. However, the Vick's helping does indicate a good chance of it being sinus related. However, if it is sinus related and that bad, you could have a significant infection that needs to be treated.

I try a few things with my migraines:

Cold compresses
Nasal spray
Pushing on my temples
Hot tea
Head massage

Many times these work (or a combination of them). Sometimes I just have to knock myself out with benedryl.

Take care and go see the doctor.

Yeap, you need a consult if it's that bad. They can give you some much better drugs to deal with that type of headache.

Thanks for the replies. I am always putting off going to the doctor! But I also can't stand the headache much longer. I am miserable. My doctor just moved to Florida last week so I am in search of a new one. Guess I better speed up the search!

Thanks again,

Michelle

My daughter has years of sinus trouble. Her surgeon always recommended alternating ice packs and heat compresses - switching every 20 minutes. Seems to get the sinuses to clear. Using heat for long periods of time can promote infection (of course - if it feels good, don't do it :( )

BTW - Tylenol doesn't touch bad headaches for me either - I have a prescription for darvocet just for sinus headaches.

You might also have a bad tooth/abscess. Tooth pain can radiate up into your sinuses. Please let us know what you find out when you get seen by the doctor.
