Bill Hall

I originally joined VR in August 2000 and had my surgery today, seven years ago. So, I was thinking about the forum back when I joined. There was only one forum, so small talk was mixed with serious surgery topics The new posts were listed in a single title line and each reply an indented line beneath. You could select the posting and read its contents, similar to tady. So, you had to skroll up to see previous postings, since there were 50-100 posts/replies each day, even with the much smaller crowd. Hank made many excellent improvements back then. I wrote down the names of the people from back in Sept 2000. They are Janie, Gina, John and Joann, Ben Smith, Bob Gleason, Rain, Francesca, Tammy, Brenda, Alan, Zazzy, Martha, Bill C, Christine, Hank, Alan McFarland, Dick V, Missy, Brad, Rob Thats Me, Bob F, Gail Mann, Dano, Todd W, Rich, Sharon, Jim H, Gerry, Jim M, and Fred. That might be the complete list of members at that time. I am still grateful for the great optimism that I got from this crowd and confidence about the surgery. Now last year, I had a pseudo-aneurysm on the suture line where my aortic valve was replaced with the homograft. I am extremely pleased about the support I got from this newer crowd. I was told by four surgeons that I needed surgery, but ended up with a non-invasive procedure. Rachel Howell was my key supporter, or I would have had that surgery and maybe dead right now. So, I am still planning to go to the reunion this year in Orlando. The first reunion was in San Antonio and I was tempted to go, but it was so soon after my joining. I did attend the second reunion in Scottsdale in April 2001.

Not quite the complete list - I joined in April 2007.

Good to see you and know all is going well. That was quite a forum, wasn't it? I was new to computers then and just trying to find out what in heck they had done to my chest and bumped into VR. Then had to figure it out. All posts were below each other and to find an answer to your own post you scrolled and scrolled. Come a long way, hasn't it.

Looking forward to meeting you.

BILL!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your SEVEN YEARS!!!!

BTW ... I believe I've met you in person, if I'm not mistaken ... so, were you at the Chicago reunion or the Golden CO reunion?

(Or, is my memory failing me here?)

Happy 7th to our friend Bill!
What a great walk down memory lane. We have all come so far. It's hard to beleive that so much time has passed! I was on the original mail list. Prior to any formation of a forum! Should I feel old:confused: :D

Janie, thanks for posting the photo from SAT:)

Ross, any idea what my member# is.

Here is to many more years of continued support and friendship!

oops! I meant April 2000! About the time Rob joined.

Wow Bill, Happy, Happy 7th Valve birthday. I am truly amazed that you remember all of the names that were on the old forum in 2000. Yes, I was with the original crowd in 2000, however I did not attend the reunion in San Antonio that spring. (Maybe we should consider going to San Antonio again to shake up Janie's part of the woods:D :D ) The first reunion I attended was in Scottsdale in 2001. I remember meeting you there. I was so excited being able to go and meeting all of the people in person. It was like meeting family. So much fun!!!!
Bill, I am so happy to hear that you are alive and well and am looking forward to seeing you again in Orlando.

Stay well my friend.
Hugs,

Happy 7th Bill, good to hear from you.
Sounds like all is well so here is wishing you many more to come.
Time sure goes by quick, I'm looking at number 12 later this year.

Thank you all for the fabulous replies.

To Rachel - The aneurysm is doing great. I will go back in the spring to make sure the thing closed properly and completely.

To Janie - The picture is great. I missed that historic moment.

To Anne - Sorry I missed your name. I copied the names who posted on Sept 21,22,27 and 28, 2000. Maybe you were away those days.

To Cort - Yes, I drove you to the tea place near Golden, CO. Don't you remember the Chevy I was driving? I was also at the Chicago reunion.

To Gina - You were part of my support going through the surgery.

To Mary, Anne and Christina - We will have great fun in Orlando. I am arriving around noon on Wednesday.

Bill

This was taken just after our Mexican luncheon at the El Mirador Restaurant in San Antonio on the last day of our reunion - Dec 2000. And Christina, you're always most welcome here..!!

Again, left to right sitting: Vergil and Rain, Janie, Hank, Michelle and KayV - standing are DickV and Gina.

I THOUGHT my memory was serving me correctly, Bill ... good to know that it still is ... somewhat, anyway ;).

Yes, I do remember that car you were driving ... at the time, that was the "new" version of what I was renting that year for my road trip ... the Classic:
