Hello everyone!

Just wanted to come back here and let everyone know today I am 7 months post op from valve replacement surgery. I am doing well and finally think I have the warfarin stabilized, lol.

Already have another medical problem I'm facing, well had it for years....doctor says I need back surgery but I said, "Don't think so" So I will be hopping along on cane when I need to. But hey, if you can get through heart surgery you can almost get through anything else.

Praying for those going into surgery and coming out. God is Good!

Blake777- I am nearly 5 months post-op. I have had a bad back for years, scoliosis, osteoarthritis etc. Recently, I have been undergoing radiofrequency
ablation to my back, as well as taking pain killers and muscle relaxants.

I find that the ablation is a stopgap, but it does make my life more bearable. I also have a TENS machine, which I use when I go for long walks. You need to get this product from your doctor, by prescription. My insurance paid for it, as well as supplies that I order from time to time.

The TENS that I have has a belt that is secured by velcro, and the electrodes stick to the back of the belt, which is wonderful. With my old machine, I had to stick the electrodes on my back, which was a pain, and it is difficult to get the electrodes in the right place.

I also use the Futuro Stabilizing Back Support. It is light, yet gives great support. I have tried others, made me feel like I was choking.

This you can get in most drug stores.

I went to an orthopedist. He said that my back was very bad, but would not do anything until I really felt that I needed and wanted the operation. At this point, while I am still healing from cardiac surgery, I don't even want to think about another major operation. I would assume that I would have to do something in the next few years though.

Great update! And I can relate to the coumadin...while still in the hospital post op,my team of doctors actually cheered and clapped when I finally reached my target!
Wishing you the Best-Dina:)

Thanks Braveheart for all the information. I think I may be past that point, but not sure. Had all the epidurals for years but for some reason they won't give them to me because of the coumadin. But I could have sworn this procedure could still be done, this particular doctor does not want to take me off coumadin to do the shots, said it is too risky.

Do a search for that, there were a few thread in the anticoagulations forums, about epidurals and coumadin. I know it's a concern because just s drop of blood in your spine can cause problems. I feel for you, I've had back problems for years, had a spinal last week (and 2 weeks before that)
