Sent test to Texas Heart Institute

Well, I finally sent both sets of test results to THI today. I was recommended to Dr. J. Michael Duncan. Has anyone heard good or bad things about him? I got them overnighted and they said he would call me back after reviewing them. I like my local surgeon, but thought i needed more experience with my situation. Wish me the best, and please let me know if anyone has heard of this surgeon. Thanks

Danny, I think this is excellent news. I haven't heard anything but wonderful things about Texas Heart Institute. Here I am a Texan and I really didn't know anything about it, except things I've read on this forum - all positive. I think you made a good move! Second opinion is smart idea even if you do like your current surgeon.

Danny, Dr. Duncan is the surgeon that Dr. Cooley recommended should do my surgery when the time comes.

He is one of Dr. Cooley's top surgeons so if he comes recommended by Dr. Cooley, you know he's one of the best!

Dr. J. Michael Duncan did my surgery over 18 years ago. Had it not been for him I wouldn't be here today. I feel I owe him my life.

My cardiologist in Odessa recommended Dr. Duncan and said he had trained under Dr Cooley.

I met Dr. Duncan the first time the day before he did my AVR.

I second all that Norma said.

I do wish you the best. I don't know anything about the THI or Dr Duncan, but I think it's wise to use a cardiac center that is experienced with many valve patients if you have the choice--for post-surgery care as well as for the surgery itself.

You know David and I are thinking of you! You are doing everything right and I'm glad that you gave gotten some really excellent first hand endorsements of Dr. Duncan. I think you can rest easy now that you are in good hands and everything will turn out just fine.
