I have the date for my AVR. I was told last week when I met my surgeon at Bart's (St. Bartholomew's) in central London, but I wanted time to get used to the sound of it before posting..... Anyway, my date is to go in on the 7th May for the op on the 8th - although they make it quite clear that this is provisional and other people's greater need may postpone my date - fair enough. It was the first time I've visited Bart's and the buildings are just as grotty as my local hospital - which was originally a Victorian Poor House, so you get the picture. But I really liked the surgeon - not too young, not too old, plenty of experience; and I liked his manner - he took on board that I've been doing my research and he spoke to me accordingly, and also he gave me plenty of time. Posting it on here makes it official! So, the journey continues.......... Take care everyone.

Glad to hear you have a date. This will be behind you before you know it and the summer will be yours to recuperate. Take care and I will pray that your surgery goes as scheduled and you don't have to deal with postponement.
Take care.

It may seem funny to say "Congratulations" but it is a thing to celebrate, no matter how scary it is. It's the date that you get your new lease on life.

That is good news. A date is a real thing. I know what you mean about wanting to get used to it for awhile before posting it. I've reserved a date with the surgeon via the receptionist, but don't think I'll announce it here until I've seen him again for my post-heart cath meeting on March 20th. Somehow I want to hear it from him......or keep an option of chickening out and waiting for a few more weeks!! ;)

I'm glad you have earnest faith in your surgeon. That is so important. So glad he showed you such respect.

Let us know how you're doing! For me, the wait is easy now. I'm just so glad to have everyone in concert about my situation. I hope it is easy for you, too!

Congrats Teresa! well done

Now you know when you are to have that new lease of energy we
"waiting-room" people all dream about!....

Teresa...as others have said, it's really weird to be congratulating someone on getting a date for OHS but from reading about the experiences of the other members here...it really does seem like a new lease of life, so......... Congratulations!!!!

You know we'll be with you every step of the way :)
