Hello everyone, Well here I go again. Tomorrow afternoon Im having the dreaded scope to investigate my swallowing problems. I had it done about 18 months ago and woke up during the procedure, and in December my heart went into a funny rhythm so they couldnt do it. So this time Im even more scared (which will not help the rhythm issues). Im just one of those people who have a fear/phobia about my throat. For me its up there with my fear of spiders. Iv had 3 angiograms done and havent felt like this. I know in comparrison to open heart surgery this is miniscule, but I would appreciate any prayers you all can offer up for me to get my fear under control because I really need this test done.

Many many thanks.........

*Thank you Jim.

I just got INR results from doc for bloods I had taken last thursday. It is 1.7 ...eeek. They are NOT stopping my warfarin for the scope tomorrow. Of course I wouldnt want my inr high with getting the scope tomorrow but Im a bit worried now that its too low. Is there anything I can do to raise it a bit in 24 hours......I suffer with a.fib almost daily and Iv had a few TIA's,........

Jacqui-

I hope all goes smoothly for you and I also hope they can find out what the problem is. One thing that helps me when I have some kind of uncomfortable procedure is to think VERY hard about the most pleasant place I have ever been and and actually take a trip there in my mind. It takes all the concentration you can muster to wipe out any other thoughts, but it is possible. When a fear thought starts to creep into your mind, just make your mind go back to that wonderful spot. It's a form of self hypnosis. Tell your healthcare people that you are going to try to do that, and they should not speak to you because it will break your concentration. Try to breathe slowly and evenly when doing this.

Good luck!

Perhaps you could request some sort of anti-anxiety medication to help you through this.
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I will say extra prayers for you tonight Jacqui! I hope that your procedure goes smoothly so that you can find out what is causing your discomfort.

Try to stay calm.

P. S. Whenever I've had these type procedures done, if I start praying silently in my head, that will help calm me down.
