Hello everyone. I wanted to ask anyone on here something or at least try to get an answer to what just happened to me today.

Here it goes:

This morning when I woke up I was choking on something when I finally got it up it was some blood with some clotting in it, about 1/2 teaspoon. It was a dark red which I see sometimes but not that much and not clotted. I do have a choking condition, so this happens like every three months when I start to get infection.

So my heart rate was 59, dropped to 58, but figured it would rise back up and it did. Well I went to store with husband, not feeling good at all. About the time I got home I really did feel bad, just felt sick or just didn't feel right. So my husband was preparing dinner and I put on some hot dogs and chili that he could eat until dinner was ready. Okay, now here it goes:

I looked over at him and yelled "Why did you put the whole bag of hot dogs in that pot!" He looked at me really weird and said, "I didn't do that."

Now visualize this, I was standing right next to him and had been there for about 10 minutes putting the hot dogs in the pot and putting chili on. All of a sudden something seemed terribly wrong. After I looked at him I felt like I had went to another place and came back. Right before this, I had a slight headache and my eyes were blurry. Could this have been a TIA (mini stoke)?.

I will be calling doc tomorrow. Still not feeling my best but think I just need to rest.

From a personal perspective, if I had symptoms like you described in your post, I'd make a trip to the ER to get checked out. The blurred vision and headache would concern me.

Competent medical professionals are the folks who need to be assessing your symptoms.

Blake,

"When in doubt, check it out". Always a good idea to contact your doctor especially if your gut is telling you that something is not right. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
On second thought...as Philip mentioned, not a bad idea to go to emerg. if it is a concern. My hospital had a 24 hour hot line to call post surgery with questions or concerns. Do you have anything like that?

Yes, I thought the same thing. I am feeling 100% better, but going to call doctor in the morning and cardiologist as well.

I just can't believe people were telling me that that was normal. I know I was in shock about it, but I guess you had to be the one going through it. And my husband, I think he just don't want anything else to be wrong with me.

Thanks a lot everyone, I will get it checked out.

You should get it checked out asap. It sounds like a TIA, but you never know. Joe had a few of those weird episodes and they were TIAs. Once he forgot how to wind up the garden hose on the reel, something he did with ease and is not hard to do. I had to help him. Another time, he said something to me, and it was just incomprehensible and it scared him, me too. We usually went to the ER when these happened, just because it could be an omen of a possible stroke. That is why it is important to get it checked out.

So, I hope the next post from you says that you called your doctor and that he checked you out, and you are OK.

Forgot to mention, my family keeps telling me this is normal. I don't think so.
Coughing up blood, headache and blurred vision, with disorientation and general feeling of sickness. Your family may think they are doing you a favor by reassuring and comforting you, but none of this sounds at all normal to me. Please get checked out immediately.

I think it sounds like a possible TIA--maybe even a small stroke.

A common response for heart attack or stroke patients is to resist going to the doctor or ER--to the extent that some medical info sources will include that resistance as one of the standard symptoms of a possible heart attack or stroke.

Please, PLEASE, even if you feel perfect today--get checked now!

We care about you, and want you around and asking questions for a long time!

The scenario you describe is one that is not only abnormal but abnormal enough to get it checked out right away. Please let us know what you find out. You have me a little worried.

So we all want this to be "normal" and for it to just pass. I know I would and do. Please push me to go in to the hospital immediatly. Please push each other.
Blake I hope you are OK and that you are still with us.
