I am sorry for not posting recently about my symptoms and what I have found out. But yesterday I finally have my appt. with my cardiologist and guess what drove all the way there and he isnt there.. really, very disorganzied clinic but a very good cardio that I like so gotta dela. So anyways I see one of the other cardios there and he asks whats going on orders a blood test (something to see if SOB is coming from heart or lungs I think??)
and listens to my heart of course and reviews my chart. He thinks that the next step is to go to surgery either to replace aortic valve or to do ablation to correct abnormal rhythm - depending on what my cardio wants and whether the symptoms are coming from the aortic valve or if the arrhythmia is a separate not related thing. So tomorrow my cardio is to call me and let me know what he seen on the most recent echo (mon - 1st) and let me know which way we will proceed. I am nervous but so tired of being fatigued and waking up sob and just being sob of breath doing silly little things and the racing, abnormal heart rhythm. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had any experience with either procedure and anyone who is leading up to surgery like I am. Look forward to hearing from you all and God's blessings to all. I'm sorry I don't respond to very many messages or post to often I do keep you in my thoughts and do read most everything that is going on. Wish me luck as I can't wait to hear what happens next especially as I will find out on my b-day - tomorrow 3/5 will be 21 so feeling awefully young.

sorry for rambling. take care all, Erica

Hi Erica-

It sounds like there is some progress towards getting you all better. That's a positive thing, right? Getting a surgical date for your birthday would probably be the best present you could get. That means that your life will be so much better, and all the fatigue you're feeling will go away and then you can go on and have fun like your supposed to.

Let us know what happens.

hi erica,
I have a bi-cuspid aortic valve and have just recently (cardio appt. on wed) made the decision to move toward having valve replacement. I also have a daughter who will be 21 in April. And yes you are young to be going through this.

I actually started complaining of fatigue when I was 31 and just had my fourth baby. The doctors just chalked my fatigue to being a mom with 4 kids. It was three years later after a car accident that my bi-cuspid aortic vavle with aortic regurgitation was diagnosed. I have been struggling with increasing fatigue for 10 years. I am looking forward to feeling better.

At first I was very anxious about everything, but the more I learned about it, from posts here as well as resources and surfing the web the anxiety began to decrease. Knowledge can be very empowering and also a courage booster.

At first, I was focusing on "measurements" and kept asking everyone here what their numbers were when they opted for surgery. During my appt, my cardio was just as much concerned about my symptoms in spite of "the number". After reviewing my test results they just did not add up to what my symptoms were I am glad that my cardio came to the same conclusion.

Do you have someone to go with you to your appointment? It can be a courage booster when talking with your doctor.

I hope my post helps. Happy Birthday!
