I have recently discovered the sauna/steam room at my gym. I starting steaming about twice a week, although when I read about saunas and how they rid toxins from the body (including drugs), I wondered if it could affect INR? I looked around online and didn't see anything (which means nothing I know), but today I went to the lab and my pro-time was 2.5. My range is 2.5-3.5 so I'm not too low, but I pretty much stay around 3.4.-3.6. I have been known to fluctuate, though. Anyhow, since I didn't ask before, I decided to see if anyone knows if sitting in a sauna can affect INR.

Thanks!

I steam every chance I get and I have never notice a problem... Although I did start looking like a prune:p ... I think it's good for you ... it sure makes me feel better!

If you are going to include the sauna as part of your regular exercise routine, it might have some effect on INR, but probably not a lot. I doubt that it would cause a drop from 3.5 to 2.5. If your INR stays at the lower end, you may need to bump your dose a little to compensate for the sauna effect.

Mmmmmmm,

Nothing like some good ol' New England steamers!

I'll take a bushel of those "little neck" clams please!

Just don't pick up the rocks and you should be OK. But don't count on it removing toxins or drugs. I don't know of any drug that is eliminated in sweat.

Speaking of clams, do you care for mussels Rob?

Hi Ross, Actually I do, but being originally from New England, I would take Streamers, Cherry Stones, Fried Clams, (all whole clams of course... No Clam Strips for me!), and of course Lobster!!!!!!.. before, selecting mussels from the menu.

Gezzzzzz.... This is making me home-sick! I gotta take a trip back up north.

Wishing everyone a fabulous Labor Day Weekend. Make it a special one with family and friends.. Only you can!

That's what I figured, that it was already absorbed into my blood, which is why I didn't ask earlier. Thanks everyone. Glad I was able to provide a springboard for some of you guys good humor as well!

You and I should get together sometime. I'm the same.

I got some mussels last weekend and made them for the wife and I. She likes clams, but she didn't care for the mussels. Granted even I'd take clams over mussels, but just wondered if you liked them too.
