Dear Friends,

I have sad news to share with you today. I have just found out that our fellow Heart-Buddy, Martha Weisberg, has passed away. Her brother told me that Martha died of a heart attack on July 5th. Apparently it was not valve-related. (Martha had a homograph AVR on 12/15/00.)

I don't have any other details, but wanted to let everyone know.

This only reminds us how precious Life is -- and that we must live life with Passion and make every day count.

I'm so sorry to hear. Thank you Bill, for letting us know.

May God bless Martha and give comfort to her family.

Bill,

I am so sorry to hear this news. I never met Martha but we had talked by phone several times. She was so kind and even volunteered to keep me company in the waiting rooms at Duke.
She could be so funny and was a real source of encouragement to me. I will really miss her. Please pass on to her family how many lives she had touched.

It's we who are left behind who are the sad ones,,

It's we who are left behind who are the sad ones,,

One day we will all make the transition from this life ti the next, For a good part of us here in these situations, we will consider death as something unavoidable because of our conditions.

Before my surgery, I believed that I would continue to be healthy , grow old and fade away somewheres.

Since my surgery, I now have the frame of mind that I will live great life for many years. But whe my time comes up, it will be related to this state of the art ST. Jude valve that I have implanted into my heart. Not really something going wrong with the valve, but from some side effect related to the procedure.

I think there is a big clot somewhere out there with my name on it. If he comes alone, we can tango but if he brings more of his clotty buddies to the party,, I may not come home that night.

I don't fear death as much as I fear those left behind to mourn and/or celebrate. I for one will enjoy the rest and freedom from physical burdens as I in my spiritual form continue to do the things that are important to me then,

Oh!! I am in shock!! Martha was thee person who told me about this website when we met at the Gym at Duke..long before I needed surgery. She came to visit me when I had my surgery and we spoke ofteen on the phone..although not for a few months. She was kind and had a wonderful sense of humor...she will be missed. Thank you for informing us all.

I am very saddened to hear of Martha's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family. Right now I feel quite shocked about the whole thing. This is the first time, since I have joined this forum, that someone has passed away. Martha was a very special and kind person. We will all miss her very much.

Bill posted that he heard the news from her brother. I ran her posts..and she mentioned her Mother in a July 28, 2001 post. Hoping to find an address. I sent an e-mail to her e-mail address. Hoping someone will read it and let us know an address for her Mother. Bill, Joan..maybe yall good come up with some info? Bonnie

We are both very sad at the news. We talked on the telephone several times before her surgery and a few times during recovery.

Life is a precious gift and we all need to take a few minutes to thank God for everything. We are both at a loss for words! We would appreciate an address.

When Martha and I would speak on the phone she told me her family was from Rhode Island and that her Aunt (a doctor) had come down to help her when she was recovering from surgery. She had gone to a local rehab center for a week or two after her surgery because she was alone and then her Aunt was coming to help..I am not sure if her Mother was there as well. It was a strange coinsidence today. Allan and I have been busy paccking..we are moving next week and I was going thru my closet and came upon my Heart Pillow from My surgery at Duke..and there was Martha's autograph and a note that she had written on it to me. It was a difficult moment. Life is much to short!

so sad...

so sad...

I tried finding an obituary for dear beloved Martha in the local paper. All it had was age 52, Durham, NC. Handled by Shalom Memorial Chapel, Cranston, RI. Could not find a listing in RI paper or listing for the chapel in RI. Local address in Durham, NC was 4600 University Dr. Durham, NC 27707 (919) 403-9688. Don't know if any family can be found with this info or not?

What a great loss to all of us. Weren't we lucky to have Martha for as long as we did. She has made a contribution to the lives of each of us and that is a great legacy. She will be missed here. God bless her family and my most sincere condolences to them. Ann
