Hi everyone,
Its been a while since I posted. I am schedule for my annual echo next month, and of course I am a little anxious.
I have recently started running. I haven't done a lot of exercise since my surgery, just the mandatory walking after surgery. So recently I have started running, and I noticed that when I run, occasionally I experience chest pain. Its pretty painful, but doesn't last long. I am wondering if it could be from the scar tissue, and the moving and jolting from running aggravating that area. Has this every happened to anyone? Should I be alarmed? Also, I don't appear to be more then the usual short of breath when I exercise, but the next day, I feel extremely exhausted. I don't know if this has anything to do with the run, if its normal, or just a total coincidence.

It concerns me, but so does every little twinge I feel these days. Especially with an apt coming up, I feel more anxious.

Thanks for any feedback. ;)

I would certainly bring it up at your appointment. I had chest pain while running prior to surgery (in addition to SOB). It never really hurt too bad, and usually would go away as I continued to run. I still occasionally have some chest pain, but at this point it feels muscular or skeletel based on the location where I get the pain. This, once again, tends to go away as I continue to run.

Thanks for your reply
Yeah mine definitly comes and goes as I run. It doesnt feel like crushing chest pain or anything, but it does hurt. I can just run through it. I am sob when I run, but I figure its because I am not in good cardiovascular shape. I have always loved running, but have never been real good at it. I do about 25-30 minutes on the treadmill, and I go back and forth from run to walk. I cant run a mile without stopping, not because of my legs, but beacuse I am sob. Again, probably because I am out of shape. I just worry a lot now, with any pain and or possible symptom. I am sure after I meet with my doc next month, and he reassures me everything is ok, I will feel beter. :)

I've experienced no chest pains while running. The only thing I had was the incision itself hurting. I think your sob is related most to not being in great cardio shape. I've found that getting back to running (my 14 weeks post-surgery and running 3.5 to 4 miles non-stop) that it's the hardest thing I've had to do. I definitely tire faster even tho I'm moving a lot slower. But I'm thankful for what I'm able to do. Just keep at it, let your doc know the situation and you'll be great.
