Ok..This might sound kind of lame because I'm gonna be 24 years old soon and I should prolly start growing up, but is it alright to go on rollercoasters after you have had a valve replacement? I mean I understand not for a long time...till everything is all healed up...but I was wondering if it was off limits now? What about waterslides? I think my big question is it a big No, No if your taking coumidin

I have been on both. The rollercoaster because I had never braved a huge one before (and never will again) and the water slide because it was really hot and I wanted to cool off. Didn't really like it but had no problems with the coumadin. Maybe some people are more aggressive on rides than I am.

I've done water slides. I was about 9 years post-op, so I think I was healed enough! :D

Was wondering the same thing myself cos of heading to Orlando with Chloe on warfarin. Although I would assume the rides that would be unsafe for her heart she may be too small for now anyway as shes only 5yrs old.

We spent a lot of time at the theme parks in Orlando when the kids were young (one of the advantages of living in FL). Most of the rides that a 5 year old can go on are pretty tame. My son had mild cerebral palsy, but was able to do most of the kid rides.

My advice is to stay away from the ones with posted warnings for people with heart conditions. Everything else should be just fine.

actually from what I hear almost every ride is posted for heart conditions now, whether it would be a problem or not, sort of a CYA thing. I know this because alot of the heart kids go to Disney as their wish, so it is a problem when they get there and can't do any rides, so I would talk to your doctor about what kind of rides are safe and which aren't Justin doesn't take meds but for him the only rides he shouldn't do are the ones w/ big Gforces. but alot of the other kinds of rides are fine for him, he is allowed to do rollercoasters and water slides. some of the kids can't do anyrides, but it is more because of how their heart is rebuilt and not because of the meds. I've done the rough wooden coasters and the fast smooth ones as well as water slides. I think the G-force issue (Coumadin) is valid on coasters, but didn't know or think about that at the time.
