Two-time AVR Vet
I just a post from Betsy (bbb) and the part regarding her rehab caught my eye. She wrote:
I am really working on excersize, following the Cleveland Clinic program. 5 min warm-up, 5 min. walking, 5 min. cool-down. I'm doing this about 5 times a day, and each day it is easier. You have to wait about 1 1/2 hours after meals to walk, so my days seem so full. Frankly, all the possible depression you hear about, I don't know when I would have the time for that!
Well, when I was discharged I was given no "program", just instructions that I should walk a bit, not strain my chest, keep my legs elevated, stuff like that. I don't have a cardio appt for another 10 days. I wonder if I should call doc to see if there's a pamphlet or something instructing on life at home immediately after surgery, including exercise and rehab. All's I've been doing is walking for about 30-40 minutes a day. No warm-up, cool-down, stretching, etc. Any thoughts? Thanks.
