Anyone recommend a good Cleveland Clinic surgeon or sombody in Lexington KY? I am at the consultation stage and would like to hear whom I should talk to.

Hi Bluebear!
I had my surgery at Cleveland Clinic two years ago. I had aortic and aortic valve surgery. Dr. Lars Svennson did my surgery. He specializes in the aorta and aortic valve. You can do a google search and find some very impressive information on him. I think he would be a very good surgeon to check out. Good luck and let us know how things go.

Bluebear - I used Dr. Cosgrove. He is definitely on of the best surgeons. However, I never did meet him and I thought CCF was like an assembly line. But the big thing is that they had a hard time restarting my heart and I am quite confident that Cleveland is the place to be, since they have the lowest mortality rate. If you decide to go there, you might read my personal story.

Hi, Bluebear. I definitely agree with the others about Cleveland, but have you looked at Jewish Hospital of Louisville, which would put you a little closer to home? It seems doctors there have done some groundbreaking surgeries with implanted heart devices and transplants, have they not? Just a thought.
