I'm new to this group and hope I asked the right question at the right forum.
There is only two hospitals that will do valvereplacement in my area one is Morton Plant in Clearwater which I would prefere.

It is high noon for me to find a cardiologist and thought maybe there have been someone in this area that could give me a recommodation.

Hi SG,

Welcome to this forum. Even if you ask something in the wrong place your questions will be found and our moderator, Ross, will move it if necessary.

I want to caution you about something. You may want to find out how many valve replacements are done at a hospital not just if they do it. It is technically more difficult to do than bypass surgeries and not all surgeons are equally adept at doing it.

I'm not familar with hospitals in your area but there are several Florida members who might be and they will chime in soon.

Again, welcome. Make yourself at home. We are all in this thing together.

Mornin Sg - I have been a member in VR for several years and cannot recall that any member had valve surgery in Tampa. There have been a few that had theirs at Shands, tho - including a Shands employee. They were pleased with their treatment. You aren't that far from Shands (Gainesville). Can you go there. It is a wonderful teaching hospital and has everything available. There may be others who will come in and give you further info.

I am in DeFuniak Springs (NW Fl.) but I lived 20+ yrs in Arcadia.

Welcome to VR. This is the place you want to be during your adventure through valve land.
