Bill, Are you o.k.? Watching CNN and got the Calif map out and saw where you lived near where the center was..  They are reporting no damage so far..Let us here from you. Bonnie

Bonnie-

Everything is OK here. We had a triple whammy, with the main quake and two very strong aftershocks within just a few minutes. This one was not quite as strong and just a little farther away from me than the 12/22/03 San Simeon quake.

The December quake was very sharp shocks that seemed like they weren't ever going to quit; this one was more of a rolling motion. We were rockin' and rollin' and a few things toppled from the upper shelves, but no breakage. The office is fine and I went home and checked things out there - everything seems pretty good. I called the schools right away (being on the school board) and there was no damage there and everyone just rode the shocks out. We're continuing to have some aftershocks, but they're smaller and just grate on the nerves ... a little

I've been dealing with earthquakes my whole life, and will take a 6.0 any day over a hurricane....

I'm glad you are fine..I noticed where you had posted to some other thread about 15 minutes before the earthquake and figured you were sitting at computer. :p :p What is with VR Members and weather? Our good friends in Fla..Hurricanes..then Betty posted..she had a tornado..over her home last night. ..and we have a basement with water. Right where I had my Xmas stuff. Lucky..only mildew on the wooden candlesticks, ect...Must have been a small leak and then..bam with Jeanne the last few days. I'm glad we have all made it thru this past few weeks. Bonnie

didn't feel a thing

didn't feel a thing

According to the news it was felt by some up here in the bay area, but I didn't know about it until I got to work at 1:00 and logged on and saw it on a news flash.

6.0 shakes pretty good, but glad it didn't do any damage--at least it was no Loma Prieta (7.2 I believe)--never felt a shake like that!! (It was our 25th wedding aniversary to boot--now we get nervous around that time of year--since our aniversay is coming up OCT 17 I'm hoping this does it for this year.)
