Hi,
I have been making my list of question for a cardiologist appointment that I have next Monday this is a different one the other wasn't on my insurance. Please let me know what I am leaving out and give me questions to ask!!!

1. Since my damage is left sided valvular disease will I require surgery?
2. If I do require surgery will it be a repair or a replacement is it in 1 valve or 2 valves?
3. As far as a severity level with my valve damage, enlarged left atrium, as well as having had a heart attack what is my level of severity.
4.Which came first the regurgitation and elargement or the heart attack?
5.How does my future look with the problems that I currently have?

Give me ideas since all you have already been thu this...
Thanks,
C-YA

Sonya,
Whens your appointment?
I happened to look at your profile my birthday is Oct 3, 1959. So we both have birthdays coming up.
I wish I could think up some good questions for you.
If you need surgery is it possible to have a minimally invasive procedure done?
I figure the more time i buy not having surgery the more practice they get.
 I'm starting to yawn good night and let us know how your appointment goes.

Any doctor who has a problem with answering questions for the patient is a doctor to avoid. This is your body and you have every right to be informed and have your questions answered.

Have your list ready and be organized. If he seems in a hurry and wants to cut you off, be persistent and assertive.

Generally, the more information you get about your procedure, the more your list of questions will grow because as you become more knowledgeable, you formulate new questions. At first, it is hard to know what to ask.

If you need to, you should be able to phone the doctor back and ask follow-up questions. If necessary, make more consultation appointments. I had two with one surgeon in my city and three with another. Finally, I was convinced neither could do the job I wanted and flew to Cleveland to have my surgery done there.
