IDIrresistibles

I had an abnormal ekg and was sent to a cardio, who did an echocardiogram on me and they discovered a aortic regurgatation, and a aortic root dilatation, and a borderline enlarged heart. The dilation is 3.3 centimeters. I have been having for about 6 months, shortness of breath, disorientation, and dizzyness or lightheadedness. My question is did any of you experience any of these symptoms. Prior to this I had my vestibular system checked and it is fine.
I feel as tho someone spiked the punch bowl and I am slighly drunk.
Also this aortic root dilatation will I need surgery soon or what. I seen the cardio on a evaluation is all and really do not have a cardio to ask these questions to. The impression part of my test states: Ct of the chest shows the following values for the ascending aorta. These include a aortic root just distal to the valve plain at 2.7 centimeters in diameter. more distally in the ascending aorta the diameter measures 3.3 centimeters and the decending mid portion of the thoracic aorta measures 2.4 centimeters in diameter.
2- Cardiomegaly

Any help on this would be so appreciated as I know nothing about it.
Thanks,
Linda Strawn

Mornin, Linda - love your name; my daughter has one just like it.

Welcome to VR. Everything you want/need to know is here. You can search the site or ask us and somebody will answer.

There is another site (about.com heart disease/cardiology where Dr Rich has a forum) where you can ask questions directly to him and he will answer. He is an electrophysiologist cardiologist. He will not give medical advice, tho. He will answer your questions, and quickly - tho he takes weekends off. I asked him to describe a procedure about a week ago and his answer magically appeared in the forum within a day. His whole name is Richard N. Fogoros. You can search his name on the net and find all sorts of info about him.

Hello and thanks

Hello and thanks

Thank you so much for answering my questions. I have checked around here and it seems everone is so nice and helpful, and we are mostly in the same boat together. It is very alarming to me, especially the symptoms I am having, the disorientation ect. It helps to know you are all here. Thanks again...Linda

As you can see, your certainly not alone! We are here for you and hopefully in the future, you'll be here to help the scared new person coming in too. ;)

Stick around. We have a surgical waiting room, currently being updated. Hopefully those that were there, left some food and didn't blow the big screen up! :D
