Hi, sorry to pester and you seem to know alot. I was told i may never hear the name coumadin. So i thought coumadin was American and wafarin was british and they were both the same drug. I have just read a post saying they may change from coumadin to warfarin so what is the difference. Thanks Paula x

They are the same drug. Coumadin is the corporate brand name for Bristol-Myers Squibb's warfarin product and warfarin is the generic name that everyone can call their medication.

Warfarin was so named because the original research was funded by the
Wisconsin (one of out states) Alumni Research Foundation.

All Coumadin is warfarin but only the one brand is Coumadin. Just like all Rolls Royces are cars but not all cars are Rolls.
