question about high INR ?

hi how are you all i've travelled in vacation to egypt and there is a big change in my life style i did INR test it was high 4 the proplem that i don't trust the hospetals here in sharm el shaike i told my doctor back home about the result and he told me to change the dose but i want to ask you what to do to reduce my INR i think 4 is high i have 2 valve replacement and i mean what the green vegatebles i can eat to reduce the INR
another thing i want to ask about the security doors that in the entrance of hotels (metal detect) is it ok with the mechanical valve or i musn't go through this doors

What is your usual dosage per day? I have 2 mechanical valves too & I really don't panic when my INR is 4.0 or even 4.5. I will just take 1/2 a dose that night & then resume my usual dosage the following day. I don't try to base my dose on my diet because that is just not the way to do it. In fact my doctor would rather have me at a higher INR rather than lower. He's happy if it's between 3.0 - 4.0 but if it goes over a bit, don't worry --- you're not gonna bleed to death!!!

I also test once a week so I really stay on top of things --- I have my own monitor though, which I love!

Many people (particularly those with 2 mechanical valves) have a range of 3 - 4. So I wouldn't consider you high. I 'd wait for another test before I did anything.

thank you for the replies you made me feel better i thought that i'll cancel my vacation and about my dose i've taken 21mg the last week 3 mg daily but the last result before i travel was 2.8 and i was on 19 weekly then the doctor told me to take 3mg daily 21mg/week
yesterday i took half dose and i'll change the dose as the doctor told me
and about how long i intend tostay here i think if it goes normal with the INR three more weeks
and plese do you have any idea about the security doors like those in the airports and the important places that beeb when there is a metal things you know it because in the hotel i have to go through it every time

I'm another who likes to keep my INR between 3 and 4. I don't consider 4 to be at all high but rather right in my range. Enjoy your vacation and don't worry about a problem with your valves setting anything off. I carry my wallet card but have never had any cause to have to show it. Same thing with microwaves....no issue there either.
