Hey ya all! I have a question. I've been trying to monitor my own dosing when I test at home instead of calling the nurse to find out what dose of Coumadin I need to be on. Anyway, I had to have four crowns done today and had to take my usual 2000mg of Amoxicillin before the dental appointment. How will the Amoxicillin affect my INR? Will it make it go up or down? I tested tonight and I was at 2.5. I need to be between 2.5 and 3.5. When should I test again? I'm on 12.5mg of Coumadin now. I guess this was more than one question, but I'm trying to get a handle on doing this dosing thing myself. Thanks for any help you all can give. LINDA

Amoxicillin doesn't usually affect the INR. A one shot dose probably will not make much difference. Just test at the usual time.
