Hi all -
I haven't posted in a while, I'm trying to avoid the truth, I guess.
I've known since June that I need to re-do my AVR. The two surgeons I consulted both agreed that it could wait until January. I live in Brazil, and I decided since I wanted to have the surgery done in NY, I could combine a family Christmas with the surgery to follow.
The last time I saw my cardiologist was in September. I just don't want to think about it, and it's hard to get things done anyway. My son is 3 years old, and I'm a stay-at-home mom, so he is constantly interrupting.
PLUS, I've been e-mailing the NY surgeon, and he isn't responding!
Sorry to vent, I need to let it all out.
Thanks!
Margaret

Hi Margaret,

It is a tough time facing up to the fact that you need another surgery like we both do. But we have to just push on, do our homework, set the date and get it over with. Then get on with our lives.

Margaret,
If you're trying to email Dr. Stelzer, Beth Israel has a firewall installed that won't let you through. He had to email me first, then I responded to his email, for us to make contact in that manner.
We had talked on the phone previously, and I called his office and told them I was having trouble getting an email through.

I know the feeling!!

I know the feeling!!

Hi Margaret, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having trouble coming to terms with the surgery and I don't blame you. I've been there quite a few times, but once I realised there was nothing I could do to change it, I began to find ways to make things easier on myself and one of them was face the fact and imagine what things would be like once it was all over. Not an easy task, but not impossible either! We're here for you and you know you can always count on my support any time you need to talk about it. Take care and take your anti-depressant pills, that should help you a bit. Take care and keep us posted!

Thanks for the support all! I've really been facing it these past few days.

Mary, I already had the initial contact with Dr. Stelzer, he asked me to send him my questions, which I did. That was 2 weeks ago! I called his office yesterday and they told me he is on vacation, but that he WILL respond. I plan on calling his direct line on Monday.

Thanks Debora, I'll see you on Yahoo soon! I WANT to feel better, it's just so overwhelming!

hi margaret,
i think it's a great idea to call dr. stelzer's direct line on monday morning.
he should be back from his vacation by then.
you might want to have your questions ready so that you might ask him over the phone if he is able to chat a bit, if not, you can do the email thing or have him call back that day.

i know you must be so aggravated, not being able to get answers immediately in order to deal with this. try and be patient; one or two days won't make that big a difference.

please let us know what happens..
be well, sylvia

Just wanted to send hugs...........
