Hi, 3 weeks ago I went in to get my PV valve replaced. It seems they could not find the valve and my pv artery was in pretty bad shape so they rebuilt it with a human valve conduit. I guess I was in worse shape than they thought. I was wondering one question. It has been 3 weeks and I am still having trouble with labored breathing during walking and going upstairs.Maybe Iam in to much of a hurry to get well. but I was wondering if you who have had some kind of pv surgery did it take awhile to get you breathing back?? Thanks Cecily

Cecily, I had MV surgery, but I can tell you that I was out of breath for a while. A lot depends on what kind of shape you were in prior to surgery. I was not in good shape at all due to CHF. Have you spoken with your surgeon or doctor about cardiac rehab? I would look into that.

short of breath

Hello
I had my pv replaced two years ago. I was breathless afterwards for a few months. My cardiologist ended up putting me on athsma meds to help open my lungs up a bit. It helps but if i forget to take it i get weezy and breathless.
So dont worry you will probably be breathless for a little while to come yet.
Good Luck
