Because several people on the site have been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, I want to mention that is Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month.

For all of you who have that diagnosis (it can show up first in your echocardiogram), please make sure that your doctors are following the progress of your disease. Many times it just gets mentioned in passing and is never addressed again. There are now treatments for his disease. Without careful medical attention, this disease can turn very, very ugly. It can mimic other heart problems, and thus some of the earliest treatments can be delayed.

For the most part you will have to be your own advocate for PH care. Getting a PH specialist is the first step in getting care for the disease. Many of the drugs that are used are prescribed only at PH centers. And many doctors don't ever see a case of PH, in their years of practice, since it is rare.

But in this population, here, we have more than our share.
