Attention ProTime Anticoagulation System users:

I would like to know how the ProTime readings compare with Veinous Lab draw readings.

Are they consistently on the High Side of lab draws or consistently on the Low Side? Or worse yet, can they be on EITHER side of Lab Draws?

I don't think you're going to get a good answer to this Al. Lab draws can be as varied as home machine readings. You'd have to do it under a pretty controlled environment to get an answer that would correctly address your question.

I think your assumption is that a lab # is going to be more correct than a ProTime monitor (or other finger stick machine) and I don't think I agree with that, if speaking about a run of the mill lab draw. You watch your tube of blood walk out of the room and then don't see what happens to it after. How long did it sit around, was the tech distracted for a bit after drawing the blood from the tube etc etc.

Are you worried about your INR being too high in conjunction with your cyst issue? I don't think you're going to get much of a varience in bleeding when talking about a .5 difference, or even more than that. If you machine has served you well up to now, I'd continue to trust it.

I should also say that I had a ProTime for more than 3 years. I don't recall what my lab #'s were (my cardio would do them when I'd go in for my 6 mo. checkups until she got her own machine.) but my cardio never questioned the results of my machine.
