Hi all.. I posted recently when my protime was 5.4. I take 10 mg/day and had been stable for a long while. After the 5.4, my nurse reduced it a couple nights, was 2.4 during that time (my range is 2.5-3.5) so I started taking 10/day again, then it went up to 4.0 last Monday. I took 7.5 one day last week then every day other than that still took 10. Tested today and I was 6.0. She said take 5 tonight and 5 on Thurs. but 10 the other nights and retest on Friday. 6.0 is so high and makes me nervous. Anyhow, you guys always have good advice.. any is appreciated!

For 6.0, I'd hold one dose, half two nights and since yours seems to be climbing regardless of what it was, reduce by 10% and retest in week. So basically you took 67.5 for the week to get 6.0 and now she's telling you to take 60mg for the week. That's all fine and dandy if your INR was 4.0, but 6.0 would cause me to hold at least one 10mg dose.

The way it's looking to me, I think your going to end taking somewhere around 7.5 daily to stay in range. That's going to be a while down the road yet, but to me, it's looking that way.

At 10/day, I'd hold for one day and then 1/2 dose, then resume on 10% less of your weekly dose. I take 10/day and holding 1 day with 2 half days would make me go low.

I was also playing around with telling you to hold one night and then just do the % reduction.

Has your activity level decreased? Have you added any new foods or drinks?
I've been above 6 several times in 17 years. As long as you aren't bleeding, you'll be fine. By holding a dose tonight you will be on your way back down by tomorrow. So breathe easy.

Thanks for the reassurance, Karlynn, and thank you both for the advice! Hopefully I'll be steady again soon. No notable changes, but being mindful of what I eat/drink for this week anyways, even though I basically have a consistent diet. Now I'm dealing with an eye allergy so that is taking up all of my worry-time instead! Ahh, springtime in GA.
Thanks again.
