ok so i figured that i would throw some more questions out here and see what everyone thinks!

when i started doing research on bav i of coarse stumbled onto the bav foundations website and immeadiatly started talking with Arlys and she has been very informative and helpful! she discussed my situation to dr Raissi at Torrance Memorial in Los Angeles and put me in contact with him.

He really seems to be very skilled and qualified! i dont want to come off negitive or anything but is there anything that anyone on here knows about him? and does it all seem legitament? i dont think that this is the case but am i falling for a internet scam or such a thing?

next thing is: Dr Raissi recommended a 64 slice machine for a cta scan. however i am going to have a consult in missoula mt with a surgean and he wants to have me do a cta scan before i go in for my consult. however they only have a 32 slice machine available tomorrow... should i not to the 32 slice and wait to do a 64 slice?

i think that will do for now! thanks for your support!

Your talking to Arylss and she is very highly educated about valve issues. NO INTERNET SCAMS there.

If I were in your shoes, I'd settle for nothing less then a 64 slice scan or even better, a 128 or 256. The higher the resolution, the more detail there is and those things are amazing!

Below is a 64 slice heart pic:

Does Dr. Raissi still work at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles? Is the bicuspid website is still through Cedars-Sinai?

Before my surgery Arlyss and I emailed back and forth also and I too thought she was very helpful and informative.

And she's shared many beneficial things with this website.

I don't know about the testing. The surgeon who operated on me ordered an angiogram, and my surgery was subsequently scheduled about a week later.

There was another member, Harleygirl, who used this surgeon. She had nothing but wonderful things to say about him. She had travelled from Seattle or somewhere around there for her surgery and I remember that he gave her his cell phone to call for any problems. I don't know if she is still a member, I haven't seen her on here for a long while.

As far as the CT goes, I would only get one and I would get the best one that I could.

Good luck

Hi Country and welcome to the forum.

As a reference source, you may want to check

http://www.ratemds.com/

not sure if he is rated yet

CT scan not a SOP in our region in Canada, was never offered, nor MRI, but these tests and measurements sound like a really good idea and as Ross who knows his stuff recommends, highest res likely the best, as is usyually true for all in imagery

all the best

thanks i will check on some of those ideas! its amazing how much info is out there!
