hi all, I am an aussie reader of this forum, and my husband has Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy. He is 53 years of age, never smoked, only the odd nice glass of wine every now and again. 2 years ago he had a septal myomectomy and a mitral valve repair.

We went for his annual check up and he has been a little up and down lately. Breathy, some tightness in his chest now and again, changes to a little grey colour and tired a lot. He also has sleep apnea and has a resmed monitor at night.

At his checkup it showed a significant left branch bungle and a small leak in his mitral valve. He currently is on atenol (one 50ml tablet in the morning) and aspirin. The cardiologist on Friday saw him and has doubled the atenol and now ordered a 24 hour halter and a stress test. (not that I don't stress him out enough).

I am worried. His mother died 6 months ago of heart failure then his uncle (only 67) died 4 weeks ago of heart failure. After all he has been through I don't know what is normal after a myomectomy and what can be done. What should I be looking out for?
Any ideas?

Your husband and I have different heart issues, but I just wanted to welcome you to vr.org
Hopefully your cardio doc and the upcoming tests will show no problems or something that is a simple fix.
Best wishes.
