6 month after surgery now I have a resting heart rate of 85 but wheb I exercise my heart rate rockets to 160 after 1 min running my blood pressure varies between 105 and 115 over 75 I had holter for 24 h and I had 118 pvcs a day and 30 episodes of sinus tachycardia so I guess I cnat do any physical exercise . My cardio set me on 10 mg atrenopol but im afraid it would lower my bp what shiuld I so?

I had problems with a high resting heart rate (85-90), and like you, with exercise, mine would rise rapidly within a matter of minutes. This happened for several years after my replacement. I eventually started an exercise regime where I continually monitored my heart rate while on the treadmill and adjusted my exercise to keep my rate within my prescribed ranged for longer and longer periods of time. Gradually my heart rate settled down, and I could exercise with more intensity and longer duration. It was a slow process but it eventually worked for me. I did try some medications, but they had too many side effects which is why I stuck with the treadmill and self-monitoring.
Good luck!

I'm four and a half months after surgery and my resting heart rate varies between 75 and 85 bpm, and when I exercise hard it can rise up to 160 very quickly. My cardiac specialist nurse said that was allright...as long as it came down afterwards when I stopped exercising. Blood pressure gets lower as you do exercise as the blood vessels dilate to allow the blood to flow faster - again cardiac nurse explained that to me and how that's very normal.

I can't comment on the other things, but did your cardio say you can't do any exercise ?

Ni he told me to exercise and since im 26 a heart rate of 168 is dar from my max which is 195 he said pvc a were normal after valve repair and 118 a day is not frequent . But the problem is that I m always dizzy and lightheaded.( thhey say its psychological..) and I dont want to take beta blockers to make things worst

118 pvc a day is fairly normal. Nothing to worry about. Zero clinical significance.
I beleive tachycardia is defined as a heart rate above 100. So, if your RHR is currently 85, it seems logical that it will rise above 100 easily, so your sinus tachycardia episodes are expected, depending on what you were doing.
Of course i am not a cardiologist, but my impression is that your holter results are nothing to worry about. Your RHR and response to excercise should go down, but be patient. 6 months is not a lot of time...

Paleo: as you excercise, normal blood pressure behaviour is for systolic to go up and for diastolic to remain constant (or decrease slighty). For instance, at exhaustion, a reading like 210/80 is normal.

Do u think I should take the beta blocker or leave my heart to rwgulate on uts own with time ? Because in the afternoon when relaxed my heart rate is starteing to get to the 70s

Sorry, I meant immediately after exercise ! I've never had my BP measured during exercise (I suspect it might be tricky) but afterwards, when it's been measured, it's lower than 'normal' as the blood vessels have dilated during the exercise.

Paleo, BP during excercise is routinely measured in stress tests. I am surprised that you did never undergo one!
You are right that after recovery from intense excercise, BP may be a little lower than normal. As a matter of fact, eventough systolic blood pressure raises a lot during excercise and this is completely normal and expected behaviour, i was told it is important to check that it decreases quickly during recovery time. My example of a peak systolic of 210 during excercise is probably on the high side, but normal anyway. Googling, i see that men seems to have a higher peak than women, and older people have also a higher peak than younger.

I've never had a stress test, that's right ! I don't know why I never had one. I suspect it was that my first cardiologist wasn't too good - when my pressure gradient reached 60 mm/Hg he was only going to refer me to his 'pal' cardiothoracic surgeon who I wasn't keen on since he wasn't the best at aortic vavle replacements, and, as well all my other consultants had recommended someone else. I also found that that cardiologist hadn't kept records of my previous regular echocardiograms ! So I switched to a senior cardiologist who was much better - and from whom I get copies of my echos and who always does an ECG at every consultation (previous cardiologist never did one except once seven years ago !). But by the time I switched to my current cardiologist there was not much point in doing a stress test since aortic valve replacment was a certainty ! Maybe when I get nearer the time for a re-do ? A long way off I hope !

I had valve repair about 6 months ago and I see similar patterns. My HR can easily top 160 and even hit 170 if I run at anything other than a very slow pace, like less than 10 min miles. But I'm finding that it is slowly improving. A few months ago I really couldn't even do any type of running without the heart rate spiking up. Now I can run continuous for 3 miles and keep my HR under 160 the whole way. If improvements continue as they are I hope to be back at my pre-op levels by 12-18 months.

Hi

6 month after surgery now I have a resting heart rate of 85 but wheb I exercise my heart rate rockets to 160 after 1 min running my blood pressure varies between 105 and 115 over 75 I had holter for 24 h and I had 118 pvcs a day and 30 episodes of sinus tachycardia so I guess I cnat do any physical exercise .

It was quite similar for me. Took nearly a year after surgery to be able to do much at all without my heart rate going over 120 and 145 would come around quick. As one who trains I have a heart rate monitor band and watch (Suunto of course :) and wore that as soon as I was able to. My resting rate did not go below 100 for months

Now I wake in the mornings and its about 67 and doing things around the house is 80

I understand it takes time for the heart to readjust to everything. By the two year mark with a diligent approach to exersize you can be as good as before. Sure its a slog, but some things are worth fighting for.

My cardio set me on 10 mg atrenopol but im afraid it would lower my bp what shiuld I so?

Ask that question to them...

Thanks a lot for the help . Anyway did u people feel lightheaded like I do cause I feel so all the time and ive done every poasible test ....( eeg mri for the head , eye ear tests ...) and nothing is wrong so is it the fast rate or just overthing the issue?

Oh and I once got a severe dizzy spell as I was lying in bed after *** .( this happened just once but I was so afraid and wheb I mentioned it to my cardio he didnt answer...)

Personally I'm not sure exactly where "the line" actually is, but it must be around here somewhere

in the interests of general modesty sometimes its better to be subtle ... :confused2:

( this happened just once but I was so afraid and wheb I mentioned it to my cardio he didnt answer...)

but the look was priceless right?

dunno, far be it from me to suggest that was too much information ....
