Has anyone gotten pregnant after having valve replacement? I want to have a child and was wondering if anyone has done it? Thanks for your help...I do have mechanical valves and I am on coumadin.

We have had a few to do so. Suggest you do an advanced search (see top toolbar for this site) for pregnant, warfarin, Coumadin and a few other words.

You would need to have a high-risk OB/GYN and your anticoagulation manager and cardiologist on board before beginning your journey.

Good luck!

It certainly isn't recommeded but it can be done. As Catwomen pointed out, you'll need to see a high risk OB GYN and most certainly a GREAT coumadin manager and Cardiologist.

They'll take you off Coumadin for a while and use Lovenox or Heparin to bridge you with until the fetus is near fully developed.
