As you all may know, I am the mom of a young man who will have mitral valve surgery soon. His uncle told us about a preparing for surgery program called "Prepare for Surgery Heal Faster". Web [email protected] The person who heard it is Peggy Huddleston. She is from Massacchusetts and trains others all over the country to conduct the program. There is a book and cds and tapes. She spoke at Harvard Medical School and there is a vcr of that talk. We are planning to read the book and buy the tapes for pre-surgery anxiety. Susan

i read the book, colleague swore by it, i thought mixed bag.

pros-good relaxation techniques and postiive thinking which helped pre surgery, cons-didnt heal any faster.

To me, this is the placebo effect.

If you believe in it, it works, and you will be mostly healed in eight weeks or so.

On the other hand, if you don't believe it, it will take you about eight weeks or so to heal most of the way.
