Pre-Op in the morning

Quick FYI.

Heading to Vandy in the morning for my pre-op. I know their going to take some x-rays. Honestly don't know what else their going to do. I know I go sit in a class to talk about the surgery.

Still hoping to get to drop by and meet Kandice and her husband Ron.

I'll post what happened when I get back to a computer Thursday afternoon.

Good luck this morning.

During my pre-op, there were classes to learned about what to expect before, during, and after the surgery. We learned how to use the spirometer. I met with various members or the surgical team. Had the usual bloods tests, etc. Signed my life away on piles of forms. Met with a volunteer who told me his OHS story. As I was at a university teaching hospital had various students ask if I would consent to participate in various studies using information obtained during the course of my OHS and recovery.

Wishing you well on the pre-op. I don't remember all the details of mine but I do remember that the staff was very kind, considerate, and informative. It is a good time to ask questions and raise any concerns that you have.

My pre-op stuff next week includes chest x rays, blood work for cross matching and other things, a physical with a PA. You might also ask if you can visit the cardiac unit to see where you'll be. Take a tour, so to speak. It can help eliminate some fears. It's also helpful to your loved ones if they can go.

My pre-op involved X-rays, blood tests, visit with anesthetist(sp?), visit with GP, visit and discussion with cardiac nurse, and that's all that I remember.
I skipped the surgery video....too scary! Jeff, you are on your way.
