.
i thought i would get a pile of blood tests done at "medlab" before the dreaded "labtests" comes to our sleepy little seaside town on 07-09-2009.
so i went next door to the doctor and asked for a laboratory script for an inr test (my first since april 08) a psa test (prostrate), colesterol and asked him if it was a good idea to check my blood for any nastys that cause endocardioitis. well doctor x gave me a look like "what has he been reading now" but agreed to the test anyway. he said there are 3 ways of testing this, blood, blood culture and ultra sound; but he said he would just do the blood test.
dr x said he might as well throw in some more tests to check me out as the last batch was pre op in february 2008. so now i am having thyroid stimulating hormone tsh, prostatic specific antgen psa, full blood count fbc, lipids, creatinine serum, prothrombin ration inr, glucose c reactive protein.
hope i do not need a blood transfusion after this lot!
goodness knows what these tests cost, but this is one aspect of our free health care that actually works 100%, so far....
has anyone else had speculative tests for endocardioitis? sometimes i wake up in the night slightly sweaty. (one of they symptoms)
also, i have noticed that i feel a little light headed at times when i am working in the workshop. after lying under a car or crouching down beside one i do tend to feel a little light headed when standing up, especially when i do that repeatedly. dr x says it is just age, checked my blood pressure 125/80 (a few weeks ago it was 135/70) pulse strong and regular, but a little fast and he checked that my blood pressure goes up when i stand up. heart sounds good, no murmur.
i guess this explaination is ok, but i used to feel light headed before my operation.....?
here's to hypochondria!
