Praline is home... BUT for how long????

I just got home last night. I was evacuated for a week. Just got power back late yesterday afternoon.My house is fine. Half my pecan tree fell on the utility room but it does not look like a lot of damage, just a bIG mess. We were lucky here.
Now Ike is supposed to be in the Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday.
I am ready for Halloween!

I'm so glad to hear you're home and safe with little damage. We cleaned up our yard some today and then took care of our two grandchildren so that our son and his wife could do some cleaning up. They just moved into a new home two weeks ago or so and had to pack up and leave.

Praying than we don't get another one.

glad to know you are home and safe and WITH POWER! Hate that your pecan tree has part of it missing. Those are so precious.

Now we wait til Ike makes it move across Cuba to see what's next. we are not putting anything back outside because it just has to be brought in again. We used to bring it in, take it out, bring it in, etc. Then we only put a very few things in the yard. This year they aren't going back outside at all - well except maybe the sand bags.......

Has school been out of session since the evacuation? Does it resume Monday?

The school system in most parishes (counties) in the storm hit areas are closed until Monday. Closed all week this week. Some are not open until Wednesday and others don't know yet. I'm not sure about Praline's school. I'm sure she'll be along soon to fill us in.

Good to hear you weathered this one safely...I was amazed to hear on our Aussie news that there are 3 or so more hurricanes lined up one after another and looking to head basically the same way!...now thats just not fair!

Sooo glad you didn't have any damage to speak of, and sooooooo sorry you might have to relive this again. Hanna was enough for us.....I can't imagine two hurricanes. Keep the faith, girl, October is coming sooner than you think.
