We've escaped the rain and cold of the East coast for balmy central and Southern France. Here's a photo of the great Gothic cathedral in Lyon, and a view of our very nice hotel in Lyon. We're here for a couple of days before heading to the Riveria, to Nice.

Best wishes to all my VR friends,

Jim

We did a similar trip in 2007. The food! The weather! If you're driving, stop at Eze on the way to Nice -- it's a medieval mountaintop town with an amazing tropical garden on the top.
Have a great trip.

WOW beautiful postcards Jim........enjoy,have fun in the real;)
and best wishes to you both.

love pictures from across the pond or anything outside of the U.S. they are always lovely to look at.

Anyone notice that little merry-go-round in front of the big building?

thanks for sharing and enjoy yourselves.

If you're near the Gorge du Verdun in the south - don't miss it. It's France's Grand Canyon and it looks like the scenery from Lord of the Rings.

Enjoy! Wish I was there too!

The Notre Dame Basilica sits high atop a hill overlooking Lyon. You can reach the top by a funicular.

Thanks for the comments and best wishes, everyone! Lyon is the culinary capital of France. The food and wines are fabulous. And here I am snorking out when I'm supposed to be trying to lose some weight before I have my next doc appointment:eek: I'm also trying to be careful about throwing around our heavy bags so as not to blow a gasket.

Tomorrow we're off to the South (Nice) by train. You can't go directly from Lyon to Nice. First you take a fast train from Lyon to Marseilles, then you catch a local train to Nice. The trip will take us 5 hours!

Best wishes from Sunny France!

Jim

BEST WISHES TO ENJOY THE REST OF THE VACATION.:) :)

Thanks, Eva! Well, a little of both, I suppose. I am a serious amateur photographer (I do work summers as a photographer for a resort newspaper, and I have a nice digital camera made by Fuji. Here are some pictures from today with an explanation written by my partner, Dan:

We have already had quite a few adventures in Nice and the Cote d'Azur,
after a couple nights in wonderful Lyon. While in Nice, we saw the Palais Massena, the Matisse Musee and most significant, the Chagall Musee; it's a nice place for lunch, too. This morning we saw the Villa Kerylos and then the Baronne Ephrussi de Rothschild villa (bottom photo,) with those incredible gardens. The lunch was delicious, with quiches and a fine Provencal rouge wine. Then we drove to Juan les Pins, where we are staying the next three nights.
