Thank goodness I found this website and other sufferers. I had a mechanical mitral valve fitted in April 2004. I have had what I thought were migraines and associated dizziness and confusion every day since. I have seen neurologists and heamatalogists and was getting nowhere. I had never heard of this syndrome but it seems a few of you have. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who suffers, how they cope, does it stop eventually.

Hi Debbie and welcome!
I suppose I cope with pumpheadedness by joking about it. It is helpful to know that this is real. I sometimes feel that all my brain cells are still there, but some of them aren't connected to the rest any more. I rely on my wife more than ever to remember things.

welcome to the Pumphead syndrome! To read more of what we have discussed, press search (above), type in pumphead and you'll find our discussions. There are several differing opinions about it and you might want to check them out.

I have lots of trouble remembering names, movie titles - things like that. We chalk lots of our memory stuff up to 'pumphead' and then just go on with our day. None of us seems to have an extremely severe memory loss. If anyone has, I'm sure they'll be along to correct me.

Yours might not be pump related at all, tho. These discussions might open doors for further research.
